AshakaCem Plc lies within the three districts of
Bajoga, Ashaka and Bage, each district has a number of local communities.
We have so far enjoyed relative peace with our communities and have
built a partnership, which has today been translated into family
hood.
As a company, we are clear about our responsibilities
not only to our customers and shareholders but also to the communities
around us. Our investment in the communities goes beyond the funding
of projects and donations.
Our social responsibility focus will continue to
engage the people for whom we provide support by getting their involvements
in all our activities. We improve the quality of lives of the people
through the provision of Education to sons and daughters of the
host communities, Health care services, Potable drinking water and
infrastructures.
Education: Education is identified as the key element
to self-reliance, the Company have so far built and furnished 26
blocks of 2 classrooms in 22 different communities and 50 undergraduates
are awarded scholarship annually.
Health care: The company have built three dispensaries
in 3 different communities and allows patients visit to the company
clinic. Constructed a dialysis centre and water treatment plant
at FMC Gombe and provide a subsidized Anti Retro-Viral drugs to
the people living with HIV/Aids within the host communities.
Water: Provision of clean drinking water is necessary
for promoting and sustaining community sanitation and health. The
Company have constructed fourteen (14) boreholes in thirteen (13)
different communities.
Electricity: Complete wiring of Maza village.
Rural Road: The Company has constructed three (3)
rural roads connecting the company with some other communities.
On the other hand, the company is also committed
to empowering its local communities to be self sufficient and self-reliant.
This led to the donation of 300 bags of fertilizer and 15 water
pumping machines to some farmers associations to boost their trades.
In another development, the company is making an effort to construct
a women-based women skill acquisition centre for the rural women.
